When and What is the WoW killer?
I play World of Warcraft and at the same time i think the game is garbage. I want a new mmo to come out that blows it out of the water, but Blizzard is pretty good at keeping their customers. WoW is worse than drugs, but it's cheaper to use. Although so many people play the game the total players hasn't really gone up very much. I play other games like MW2 and rent different things, but those can get boring as well. My main question is what has the most potential? Diablo 3? Knights of the Old Republic? I dk, i hope blizzard doesn't charge monthly for D3. Bring on the MMOFPS!

Re: When and What is the WoW killer?
Out of all of these titles, I think Diablo is the only franchise with a strong enough name to compete with WoW. I'm not big on MMOs, but I'm well aware of how popular WoW is. Diablo II is the only other MMO that I've seen captivate a hardcore fan base that's comparable to WoW's. The amount of Diablo LAN parties that I've witnessed are a testimony to that., especially considering that I don't even play the game.
Besides, any game that's a decade old that's still consistently being played has some obvious potential as a franchise.

After chatting with the KOTOR developers at PAX, I'd have to say that I think it has the most potential. KOTOR already has a large RPG community fanbase, so it has a good built-in fanbase surrounding it.
Plus, it supposedly is trying to make story important to the MMO, which pleases me. It pleases me very much!

Re: When and What is the WoW killer?
I honestly think this is the wrong question to ask. WoW is an game that has captured millions of people in its gameplay, its not the type of game that is 'beaten'. People now play for the community, which just doesn't exist elsewhere now. All that could happen is if they stop producing new content for the game for people to keep playing. Which...probably isn't going to happen.
