 life of an addict
Basically I'm just curious as to how you all watch your movies and or where you get the ones you do own.
I'm a huge movie junkie and try to watch at least one movie a day, haha lame I know but I don't care. Ok so basically, I'm all about seeing movies in theaters, because its all about the experience but the only thing is that I hate wasting my money on a movie that was so not worth it and because of that I'm always checking IMDB ratings of the latest movies. However, the last movie I did see in theaters was Avatar because that was the only way to see it. DVD will not possibly do that movie justice. I don't know about you but I don't see anything wrong with getting movies online either, I see it more as an intellectual right. So, I see a lot of my movies that way too. However, when it comes to actually owning a movie I hardly every buy them new. I buy most of my movies off of Amazon, ebay lots, or from Half Priced Books (the best store ever!). Due to my obsession with buying and watching movies I have come to own well over 300 DVDs and thats not exaggerating. My addiction doesn't end with DVDs, it has slowly spread to collecting complete series, collectors additions, and blurays. As you can tell, I love movies... but then again, who doesn't?

 Re: life of an addict
I don't go to the theaters often unless i really wanna see a movie or there's nothing else to do with my friends. I like watching a lot of episodes for tv shows online, and sometimes i watch movies as well. If i don't feel like paying to see, rent, buy a movie then i watch it online because i feel that i shouldn't have to pay for something i might not like. i might watch a little bit and then turn it off if it's bad. For example, boondock saints 2...yes i liked the first, fun movie to watch...but whether or not this second is good is highly unlikely so my roomate is downloading it and burning it. Somehow companies find money to make movies like "open water"...(worst movie ever) with that being said...why should i give them money if i think it might be as bad as that movie. I used to buy movies a lot but most things i do are about money, if it's on the web for free and i want it, ill pirate.

I try to watch as many movies in theaters as I can...unless you can recreate the immersion of the theater experience at your house, it's just going to make for a more enjoyable movie.

I'm not big on movies, so watching them on a standard TV with stereo speakers doesn't bother me at all. Surround sound and HD-everything is great, but I'm too cheap to even buy a DVD. Upgrading my TV or investing in speakers isn't important enough to me to justify the money, especially when I watch a half dozen movies a year at most.
